February 25 - March 1, 2011

Back in Barra de Navidad after spending over a week in Manzanillo bay.  We waited for Jim to come back from Phoenix. Went to Melaque, a neighboring town north of Barra. Here they have a small grocery store where you can find items like wasabi (in powder form), canned baked beens, root beer, Tillamook cheese, Guiness and other items you would not normally find in a mexican grocery store. The prices are very expensive. Needless to say we did not buy much.

Melaque - 2 km north of Barra de Navidad
Melaque town square
Nils & Carolyn - young couple from Germany
We met Nils and Carolyn when we were in La Cruz aboard s/v Aquadesiac. They are touring north and south America on their bikes. Currently they are in Barra de Navidad aboard Blue Dolphin. However they are jumping ship to go north to the Sea of Cortez aboard Sea Bear.

What we do best for the last 7 months. Relaxing and waiting for cervezas at a local bar - La Oficina
Lenard photo op with the catch of the day - this was during the fishing tournament in Barra's local Carnaval 2011

Taco feed
Arctic Tern - "prisoner in paradise"
Pow wow at Hemisphere dancer w/ Capt. Larry and Admiral Mel - Barra de Navidad lagoon

When we first arrived there were close to 60 sailboats in the lagoon - too close for comfort...
especially when there are strong winds and boats dragging anchor.
do that again...
Fishing during low tide, this guy was 100 yards from our boat...
