While our family & friends freeze their f@x!? ass off, we are here enjoying the warmth of the sun as we hydrate with water, cervezas or 2 for 1 cocktails. We are currently in Barra de Navidad. It is 200+ miles north of Zihuatanejo. After leaving Yelapa, we visited the town of Ipala,Perula and Tenacatita. These are coastal towns found in Punta Ipala, Bahia de Chamela and Bahia de Tenacatita

Artic Tern under full sail heading south
Lagoon heading to the village of Tenacatita
Lenard, Jim, Juanita & I got to the end of the lagoon hoping to visit the village of Tenacatita but we were dismayed. The village is closed and fenced off because of land grab issues between the government and a land owner. The village is guarded by the local police. However, the beach is open to the public from 9am - 6pm and can only be access through the main road. We didn't see any crocodiles either.
Lagoon of Barra de Navidad When Lenard, Juanita & I went for a dinghy ride around the lagoon we saw a 4-5 ft crocodile. Needless to say we didn't go swimming here. We did see locals mostly fishermen casting their nets. This is a huaraches (sandal in English). It is made with a corn tortilla that is a 1/4" thick shaped like a sandal, topped with chicken, sauteed onions, peppers and cheese. A very filling meal and mucho sabor. Enjoying a beautiful evening on the Midnight Sun. We left our good friends, Jim & Juanita for warmer weather south a couple days later. | |
