The weekend before we left Santa Barbara our friends, Dave and Susan joined us for a few days in Santa Cruz island for fishing, kayaking, good eats, drinking (mostly Lenard and Dave) and relaxation.

We finally left Santa Barbara on Wednesday, August 4th. Partway to Santa Cruz Island, we fired up our watermaker. A few minutes later, we have fresh water. Oh yeah! We headed back to Santa Cruz Island and spent the night at Smuggler's cove. The next day we headed to Anacapa Island and did an overnight there. On the way to Anacapa, we made more fresh water enough to fill our sun shower and 5-gallon container.
After Anacapa, we headed south to Santa Barbara island. We thought we were going to have the island to ourselves but that was not the case. When we got there there were about 10 boats - 4 powerboats and 6 sailboats. We spent a couple of days there then proceeded to Catalina island. Our first anchorage is Catalina harbor. We will be here for a few days.

While updating our blog at the Harbor reef cafe, Lenard and I met Jean and her daughter, Bonnie. They have been coming here in Catalina island since 1963. We sent Jean a photo of Midnight sun. We hope the photo will soon be a painting. She will keep us posted. Maybe next year we'll see them again on the way back.
