Isla Danzante - Honeymoon Cove

On our way back down from Loreto we stayed almost a week anchored at Honeymoon Cove on Isla Danzante. This cove is full of sea life. Lenard saw 2 ft squid known as diablo rojo (Red devil). I thought about this squid as I cleaned the bottom of the boat a couple days later.

Our stay here was very relaxing. We were always in the water to cool off from the days heat. The water surface temperature was in the 80s but underwater was still cool. We donned our 3mm wetsuits. Being in the water
for over 30 minutes or more get a little chilly if not wearing a thin wetsuit.

We never did explore the island. I guess we wanted to just watch and enjoy the surrounding. It was a change from our normal routine. Usually we would go on hikes. It is a nice change of pace. We met Jim and Diana of Adirondack. We actually first met them over at Aqua Verde. It is nice to see them here again and get to know a little about them. They had dinner over on the Midnight sun and they reciprocated the next day by having us over for dinner on their boat.

Cruising is so much fun.
You meet new people.
Share stories with the people you meet.
Learn from their experience.
Learn about the places where they are from and places they've visited.
It may take you longer to get from one place to the next.
It is a totally different perspective from driving and flying.
You can go to places only reachable by some type of watercraft.
The places we've been can be described with words such as beautiful, epic, grandeur, marvelous, magnificent, enigmatic, mysterious, grand, desolate, indescribable, rugged and many more...
This cruising experience will forever be imprinted in our memory.
Unforgettable!

We've sprung a leak!
On the way to Isla Danzante, we filled our water bladders. We also noticed we had some water in the bilge (lowest compartment of a boat). As soon after we anchored, we emptied the bladder into jerry cans.
Lenard unscrewed all the fittings and we checked where the leak was. It was a pin-size hole between a crease. We patched it and put it back together. We poured the water back in the bladder and checked it the next few days. So far so good!
It only took me an hour to spear one of these porgies.

Here I am very happy to have speared this wonderful eating Pacific Porgy. Spearfishing is hard work especially when you can't hold your breath for too long underwater. Fishing is so much easier. I caught 2 earlier that morning in half an hour. It was good practice for me. Besides once we're back in the bay area I wouldn't be able to do this.
We were in the water all the time we were on the island. See how dark I am.
This was the only shade we could find. Between 4 and 5 in the afternoon, we usually head back to the boat to get out of the sun.
Here we are under the overhang. As you may have noticed, Lenard enjoying a cocktail.
Enjoying a cerveza after snorkeling for an hour.

Jim and Diane of Adirondack.

Exploring the island. We thought about having a bonfire but snorkeling and spearfishing all day long we just want to relax and enjoy a quiet evening on the boat. Watch the sunset. Listen to the birds and splashing of fishes in the water.

Life is simple - fish, eat and sleep.
